Let’s Prophesy Over Our Children- Believe

Dear parents, the Bible teaches us the profound impact we have on our children’s spiritual journey. In Proverbs 22:6, it warns, ‘Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.’ Our actions and choices, especially in matters of faith and righteousness, serve as a guide for our children. If we, as parents, do not follow Jesus and walk in righteousness, we risk leading our children astray. The Scriptures emphasize the importance of modeling a godly life, and failing to do so may hinder our children’s understanding of righteousness and their relationship with Jesus.

Discerning Spirits

1 John 4:1-4 is a passage from the New Testament of the Bible, and it speaks about testing the spirits to discern whether they are from God. One could emphasize the importance of discernment and testing spiritual messages to ensure they align with the teachings of Jesus Christ. It encourages believers to be aware of false prophets and to rely on the Spirit of God within them for discernment and guidance. In the context of discerning the spirits, the idea is that through being born again, individuals receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, who provides them with spiritual insight and discernment.

Children are blessing from above:

When it comes to blessing and prophesying over your children, having a foundation of faith in Jesus Christ is very important. 1 John 5:13-15 focuses on assurance and confidence in prayer for those who believe in the Son of God. It guarantees eternal life for believers and shows confidence that God hears and answers prayers made according to His will.

Psalm 127:3-5 emphasizes that children are a blessing and a reward from the Lord. A blessing for children might draw inspiration from this passage of scripture and include affirmations of the child’s value, purpose, and potential.

The combination of Scriptures and a children’s blessing underscores the biblical perspective that children are not just a biological outcome but a precious gift from God deserving of love, nurture, and His promises. Below are the prayer points that parents can pray for their children:

  1. Lord, I pray my children will believe in you with a faithful heart. (Psalms 145:1)
  2. Lord, I pray my children will be transformed in their life. (Jeremiah 24:7)
  3. Lord, I pray my children will know when sin tries to get into their lives. (Hebrews 12:6)
  4. Lord, I pray my children will do rightful things in life. (Psalms 37:3)
  5. Lord, I pray my children will believe who they are in Christ. (Ephesians 2:10)
  6. Lord, I pray my children will listen to your still small voice. (John 10:27-28)
  7. Lord, I pray my children will make wise choices in the face of peer pressure. (1 Corinthians 10:31)
  8. Lord, I pray my children’s minds will be protected from evil. (Proverbs 4:23)
  9. Lord, I pray my children will show compassion on others. (Romans 12:10)
  10. Lord, I pray my children will love you with all their heart, soul and mind. (Matthew 22:37)
